One of the best poker players of our time today just happens to be Patrik Antonius. He has managed to change the game and bring something knew to the table in a huge way. As many players before him, Patrik has shown that with enough hard work and effort, even the average person can make it to the top in anything that they may desire to do. Despite his handsome good looks that can be likened to that of Brad Pitt, Patrik is a great poker opponent. Although Antonius enjoyed doing many things while growing up, poker made it’s way into his life and proved to be something worth trying and sticking to for the long haul to come.

Patrik Antonius was born on Dec. 13, 1980 in Finland. As a child he had many different interests and took on various things as well. As a young man growing up, he would play sports and was particularly good at tennis (just like fellow poker pro and friend David Benyamine). Little did he and his family know that later on in life, poker would not only serve as an outlet or hobbie, but it would soon come to be a good source of income as he began to become a better player and rake in the money in small tournaments and poker games. Even though Patrik was great at the sport, he had to put it on hold when he began having serious back problems. Near the same time, he and his friends started playing poker and working on getting the game down.

After college, Patrik went to the Army for a period of time. After serving in the military, he tried to resume a career in playing tennis on a professional level, yet another back injury put his dream of pro tennis for good. After trying out different jobs and professions, he began playing poker at home and at the casinos more frequently. Once Patrik realized that he was good at the game and that he was on to something, he knew that it was time to go for it and show the world what he was working with and had to offer as someone new to the professional world of poker. Antonius knew that being among the greatest poker players was not something that would just fall into his lap or happen overnight, but that it was something that would necessitate hard work and perserverance just as anything worth doing is. He has currently about twelve money finishes in the WSOP.

Patrik has made his mark as a force in poker to be aware of and has gained many fans, as well as respect from other poker players that are currently ranked among the best that the gaming world has to offer and makes no qualms about it. It’s believed that Patrik may have an eight figure winning amount. Patrik has one daughter and is very active in his life when we is not playing poker. Being a professional poker player is something that started out as a dream and has turned into a lucrative way of life to be proud of.
